Many of my early portraits feature children with whom I worked having spent 25 years as a teacher. I gave up teaching in September 2007. I hope the early pictures successfully reflect upon some of the more joyful, positive aspects of life in Batley, my home town, and that they are seen as a celebration of childhood in a happy, diverse community
In 2008 my “Portrait of my mother-in-law, Anne, and her sister, Auntie Audrey” was selected for the BP Portrait Award Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, London, and subsequent touring exhibition.
